Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services were held Monday, October 10 for Otinus Hanson, age 90, who died Friday October 7, 1988 at his home in Waukon, Iowa. The Rev.Lynn Groe conducted the 1 p.m. services held at St.John's Lutheran Church. Burial was in Old West Paint Creek Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Milton Hanson, Howard Dickson, Harlan Hermeier, Ernest Fruechte, John Oesterle, Richard Hanson, Charles Larkin, and James Rathbun. Honorary pallbearers were William Welper, Carl Christensen, Alvin Thompson, Eugene Knudtson, Nennor Sorum, Roger Grotegut, Nennor Steffenson, and Donald Bulman.
Otinus was born August 16, 1898 on the family farm in Makee Township, Allamakee County,Iowa, to John and Karen (Sveen) Hanson. He attended the Hanson School in rural Allamakee County and married Viete Lippe on November 30, 1941 in Caledonia, Minnesota. They farmed in rural Waukon, Iowa before moving into Waukon in 1957. He was a member of St.John's Church.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, Hans, Marcus, Carl, Martin, Adolph, Josephine, and Jennie Hanson.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Kathleen) Handland of Herndon, Virginia and a grandchild, Kim.
