Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 1 for Ruth R. Sevatson, age 87, who died Saturday February 25, 1989 at Veterans Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Lynn Groe will conduct the 11 a.m. services at St.John's Lutheran Church with burial in the Oakland Cemetery. Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers will be Paul Schneider, Eaton Cote, John Shafer, Alton Herman, Len Stock, and Jack Wadsworth.

Ruth was born October 25, 1901 in Allamakee County to William and Celia (Dalton) Reynolds. She attended Waukon High School and Iowa State Teachers College. During the 1920's and again in the 1950's she was a teacher in rural county schools. On June 16, 1926 she married William Sevatson in Waukon, Iowa. They farmed near Decorah, Iowa and later in Waukon. She was a switchboard operator at Veterans Memorial Hospital and worked six years at the Waukon Public Library. She was a lifetime area resident except for three years when she lived in New Canaan, Connecticut. She was a member of St.John's.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters, Hazel Thomas and Jeanette Kosbau.

Survivors include a son Richard Sevatson of Dublin, New Hampshire, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
