Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 28,1989 at Martin Funeral Chapel for Clara Jeanette Gronna, age 95. She died Friday, February 24, 1989 at Veterans Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Lynn Groe conducted the 10:30 a.m. services. Burial was in East Paint Creek Synod Cemetery. Casket bearers were Bertin Juvik, Leo McCormick, Willard Leiran, Robert Grangaard, John Grangaard, Peter Grangaard, and Patrick Gronna.
Clara was a lifetime resident of Allamakee County. She was born March 27, 1893 in Ludlow Township to John L. and Clara (Ruen) Ehrie. She attended Waukon area schools and in December of 1917 she married Thomas A.F. Gronna in Allamakee County. He died in March of 1927. She worked as a jewelry buyer for Hale's Department Store in Waukon for many years and was known for her needlework and crafts. She taught knitting and was an avid artist and painter. She was also founder of the Waterville Chapter of 4-H. She had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center since 1986.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Inga and Alice and a brother Lou Ehrie.
Surviving are a son Robert of Waterville, Iowa; a daughter Clarellen Adams of San Francisco, California; five grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren
