Leona M. Drew, 87, of Waukon, died Thurs., April 12, 2001, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.

Funeral services were held Mon., April 16, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon with Fr. Allen M. Schmitt officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon.

Leona Mae Kilpatrick Drew was born Jan. 11, 1914, on the Union Prairie Township, rural Waukon, farm of her parents, Charles Samuel and Sarah Agnes (Ryan) Kilpatrick. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's the Baptist Catholic Church, West Ridge. Leona attended the rural "Stone School", St. Vincent's Academy in Dubuque, and graduated from Waukon High School in 1933. In May of 1933, she married Harold Drew at St. John's the Baptist. She lived in the Waukon area before moving to Cedar Rapids in 1955; in 1979 she returned to Waukon.

Leona was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and was a volunteer at St. Vincent De Paul's of Waukon. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and sewing.

Leona is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Harry, Charles, and Jack Kilpatrick; and two sisters, Helen Mellick and Lorna Howe.

Survivors include four daughters, Angie (Maury) Hart of Waukon, Marilyn (Roger) Corrigan of Des Moines, Sherry Sparks of North Liberty, and Marlene (Warren) Bachtel of Bermuda Dunes, CA; two sons, Dean (Karen) of Decorah, and Charles of Readstown, WI; a brother, Edward (Helen) Kilpatrick of Longmont, CO; and a sister, Mary Howes of Waukon. Leona is also survived by nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Casket bearers were Lyle and Keith Schulte, Ted and Jay Corrigan, Jeff Sanders, and Greg Brevig.

Martin Funeral Home of Waukon assisted the family.
