Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Lloyd Thompson, age 80, an Allamakee County native, died at Thompkins Health Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa Tuesday, December 6, 1988. Funeral services were held Thursday, December 8 from Christ Lutheran Church of which he was a member. Burial was in the Calendar Cemetery. The Rev. Carroll Lang, pastor at Christ Lutheran officiated and Gundersen Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
Lloyd was the son of Albert J. and Carrie (Johnson) Thompson. He was born March 28, 1908 in rural Waukon, Iowa. He graduated from high school in Waukon in 1927 and from the Junior College in Waukon in 1929. He worked at the J.C.Penney store in Waukon until leaving for Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1936 where he also worked for J.C.Penney and later W.T. Grant until his retirement in 1974.
He and Agnes Sollie were married in Minneapolis in 1936. She survives. Also surviving are a brother Alvin Thompson of Waukon, Iowa and two nephews, Harlan Thompson of Wycoff, Minnesota and Dayton Hazen of Waukon, Iowa.
A brother Herman Thompson and three sisters, Selma, Mabel, and Mrs. Clara Crowley, preceded him in death.
