Lloyd "Tim" Duvel, son of Albert and Minnie Klein Duvel, was born on Feb. 9, 1916 on his parents' farm in Ludlow Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. He died on Sept. 22, 1993 at his home in rural Postville. He was 77.

Tim was a lifetime Ludlow Township resident, and was educated at Ludlow Township #4 rural school. He raised hogs, beef cattle and crops, and did milking. He was a lifetime member of Salem United Church of Christ.

On Nov. 17, 1948 he married Laura (Gress) Hamann at the Zion United Church of Christ Parsonage in Waukon.

Survivors include his wife; a son, James (JoAnn) Duvel of Postville; a stepdaughter, Ardith (Donald) Waters of Waukon; stepsons Dean (Carol) Gress of McGregor, Edward (Susan) Gress of Shreveport and Gary (Dorothy) Gress of Waukon; a sister, Margaret Kruger of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Orville (Laura) Duvel of Postville; and 13 step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 24, 1993 at Salem United Church of Christ, Rev. Dr. Elsa Marsland officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery. Casket bearers were Bryan and Jeff Waters; Tim, Troy, Ray and Michael Gress; Dean Kruger; Charles Duvel; Loren Broszeit; and Larry Schroeder. Honorary casket bearers were Jackie and Pattie Waters; Bonnie Kubik; Lori, Vickie and Laura Gress; and Nancy Leible. Arrangements were made by the Martin Funeral Home, Waukon.
