Funeral services for Geraldine (Joyce) Duvel, 58, were held Thursday, June 1, 1:30 p.m. at the Salem United Church of Christ, rural Waukon, Iowa. Rev. Dr. Elsa Marsland officiated. Martin Brothers Funeral Home, Waukon was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Jim Barth, Don Barth, Gary Barth, Doran Thorson, Dane Thorson, and Randy Thorson.

Joyce was the daughter of Levi and Esther (Rotvold) Thorson. She was born July 4, 1930 in Winneshiek County, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Hesper Lutheran Church. She received her education in rural schools near Hesper, Iowa. On December 17, 1946 she married Jacob Iseli at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. He died January 24, 1970. She married Merlin Duvel on March 24, 1973 at the First Presbyterian Church in Waukon. Merlin died May 29, 1989 in Waukon.

Preceding her in death were her two husbands, Jacob and Merlin, and a brother, Richard Thorson. She was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ.

Surviving are two children, Kenneth Iseli and Mrs. Dayton (Virginia) Hazen, both of Waukon. 2 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 1 great-grandson; a brother, Ronald Thorson, Santa Clara, CA and two sisters, Mrs. Harold (Helen) Barth, Waterloo, Iowa and Mrs. Ralph (Lois) Cumalander, Chapin, South Carolina.
