Funeral services were held Wednesday August 30, 1989 for Mildred Irene Henningsgaard, 71, who died Sunday August 27, 1989 at Bethany-St.Joseph Care Center in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. The Rev. James Jacobson conducted the 1:30 p.m. ceremony held at Zalmona Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the Zalmona Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime area resident, she was born July 21, 1918 on the family farm in Ludlow Township to John and Emma (Klein) Flage. She attended Ludlow #2 school through the eighth grade. On February 18, 1947 she married Leander Henningsgaard in Allamakee County. He died January 20, 1986. She was a member of the Zalmona UPW and Zalmona Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker and farmwife.

Surviving are a son Donald of Waukon,Iowa, two grandchildren, Christine and John, and a sister, Mrs. Geneva Snitker of Postville, Iowa

Casket bearers were Wayne Fish, Calvin Bechtel, Bill Blagsvedt, Don Ellingson, Lyle Leikvold, and Ed Winters. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth O'Brien and David Flage.
