Francis Devitt Rites Saturday - Waukon Democrat June 1968
A mass of requiem was said Saturday, June 8 in St. Patrick's Church in Waukon at 9:39 a.m. for Francis William Devitt. The Rev. John McDonald was the officiating priest and interment was in St. Mary's cemetery in Lycurgus.

Mr. Devitt, who had been in ill health for several years, died Thursday, June 6 at Northgate Manor nursing home here.

He was born July 19, 1882 in Waukon and his parents were Martin and Mary Drew Devitt. He lived his entire life in Allamakee county. He was educated in the local schools, was employed as a farmer, and never married.

He was the remaining member of his family, and was preceded in death by five brothers, Michael, Patrick, Martin and Bryan, and three sisters, Mrs. Dennis (Anna) Ronan, Mrs. John (Mary) Rafferty and Mrs. Joseph (Agnes) A'Hearn.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Waukon. Pallbears were Vince Hancock, Leo Devitt, Francis Martin, Francis A'Hearn, Norbert A'Hearn and Harold Devitt. Bakke and Hanson was in charge of arrangements.
