Bryan Devitt Expires On Returning From Haying - Waukon Democrat July 1943
Relatives and acquaintances of Bryan Devitt, 57, were startled and saddened upon being apprised of his sudden death Friday morning. Although reported not as well as usual for a few days previous, he was engaged in haying on his farm in French Creek township. He had evidently returned to the house to rest where his lifeless body was found on the porch.

He was born October 18, 1885, his parents being Mr. and Mrs. Martin Devitt, early residents. He never married and lived a quiet, industrious life of a farmer, repected by neighbors and friends. He is survived by four brothers, Patrick, Martin, Michael and Francis and a widowed sister, Mrs. Joseph A'Hearn, all of this vicinity.

The body was brought to the Bakke-Hanson funeral home, remaining there until Monday morning when funeral services were held at St. Mary's church, Hanover, a mass of requiem being celebrated by Rev. P. Reynolds. Burial followed in the family lot in the Lycurgus church cemetery.
