Irma Davison

Irma Ruth Davison, 60, Allamakee county extension home economist, died the afternoon of March 15 at the Waukon hospital from injuries received when she fell on the ice Friday, striking the back of her head. She suffered a skull fracture in the fall, which occurred as she was leaving the home of Lois Grimm with whom she had spent the evening.

Last rites for Miss Davison were held from First Presbyterian church here at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon, March 17, with the Rev. William Tjaden officiating. Final rites were at Burt Presbyterian church Wednesday, and burial was at the Burt cemetery.

A native of Burt, Miss Davison was born February 8, 1899, daughter of William J. and Ruth Davison, now deceased. She leave a brother and a sister, Frank M. Davison of Des Moines, and Edna Bradford of Palo Alto, California. There are two nieces, Ruth A. Towner of Chevy Chase, Maryland, and the former Carol Bradford of California, and one nephew, Allen Davison of Des Moines. Miss Davison had spent her vacation with Mrs. Towner recently, also visiting Washington, D. C.

Saturday after they learned of Miss Davison's accident. She never regained consciousness after her fall.

Miss Davison had lived in Waukon for the past four years, and had hundreds of friends in connection with her work with the extension division. Last Thursday she had been guest speaker at the Allamakee county meeting of the Federsted clubs in Waukon, and she was active in civic affairs. Her work as extension home economist took her into dozens of county homes.

A graduate of Iowa State college at Ames, Miss Davison held the bachelor of science degree, and had one extensive graduate work at Ames and elsewhere.

She was a member of a Presbyterian church guild and Order of Eastern Star.

Miss Davison had been a home economist and a home economics teacher, living at various times in Burt, Sioux Rapids, Algona, Ruthven and in Postville, where she taught for six years. She came to Waukon as Allamakee county extension home economist in 1955.
