Eldo C. Dahl, 71, resident of Wawaka, Indiana, passed away on April 3 at the Goshen Hospital, Goshen, Indiana of a coronary attack. He was born January 1, 1896 on a farm near St. Olaf, Iowa, the son of August and Sophia (Harnack) Dahl. The Dahl family moved to Postville in 1908.
Mr. Dahl attended Postville School and was a World War I veteran. He was employed for many years as a street car motorman and conductor in Buffalo, New York. Mr. Dahl was a machine shop mechanic by occupation at the time of his retirement in 1961.
He was married to Mrs. Hazel Sprinkle Robb on November 6, 1936. She passed away on January 31, this year.
Surviving are five step-children, L. Eugene Robb, George Robb, Mrs. James Davis and Eldon Robb, all of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Mrs. Ed Aurand, South Bend, Indiana; 17 step-grandchildren and great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents, the August Dahls; one sister, Sophia (Mrs. Henry W. Schroeder) of Postville; two brothers, Henry of St. Olaf and George of Arlington, Minnesota.
Mr. Dahl was a member of the Wawaka American Legion post.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Lloyd Overmyer at the Baily Memorial Chapel on April 6. Burial was in the Lancaster Cemetery, Huntington, Indiana.
