Charlotte C. Shogren, 88, of Marion, formerly of Waukon, died Tues., Oct. 9, 2001, at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion, following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held Sat., Oct. 13, at 11 a.m. at Center Baptist Church in rural Lansing, with the Reverend David Shogren officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Martin Funeral Home assisted the family in arrangements.
Charlotte Constance Aldrich Shogren was born Oct. 18, 1912, in the Joy Top area of rural Lansing. Her parents were James Willard and Constance (Ericson) Aldrich. Charlotte grew up in the rural Lansing area and graduated from Waukon High School.
From 1930 until 1943, Charlotte worked in federal government offices in Washington D.C. On March 15, 1943, Charlotte married Roland Victor Shogren in Riverdale, MD. Charlotte and Roland farmed together in rural Lansing for many years before retiring to Waukon. Charlotte also worked as an aide for the Allamakee County Health and Homemaker Department. In 1990, Charlotte moved to the Cedar Rapids/Marion area, where she has lived since.
Charlotte was an active member of Center Baptist Church and its women's organizations. She enjoyed baking, traveling, reading, listening to music, and spending time with her family.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roland; and five brothers, Delbert, Isadore, Richard, Alvin, and Lemuel Aldrich.
Survivors include one daughter, Althea (Gerald) Anderson of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Richard Dennis (Sharon) Shogren of Bartlett, IL, and the Rev. David (Cherry) Shogren of Mason City; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Hillard Aldrich of Atkins and Sidney Aldrich of New York, NY.
