Edgar L. Ericson, 90, Waukon, died Sun., Oct. 29, 2000, at his home in Waukon following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held Wed., Nov. 1, 1 p.m., at Center Baptist Church in rural Lansing, under the direction of Rev. Reuben Grueneich and Rev. Skip Hansen. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon. Edgar LeRoy Ericson was born on Nov. 2, 1909, in Center Township, rural Waterville. His parents were Richard and Cora (Aldrich) Ericson. He was baptized at Center Baptist Church and attended rural Center Township schools. On Oct. 8, 1938, he married Helen Dee in Davenport. Edgar farmed in Center Township until moving to Waukon in 1969, where he was a life-long active member of Center Baptist Church, formerly serving as Sunday School superintendent and secretary/treasurer of the cemetery. He was active on the men's brotherhood and was currently contributing as a Deacon. Edgar enjoyed music and liked to sing. He did some carpentry work and enjoyed making things, including latchhook pictures. He also enjoyed traveling and went with Helen several times to California when their daughter, Darlene, lived there. Edgar loved to visit with people and tell stories and was always willing to help those in need however he could. Edgar is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen, who died in 1990; a grandson, Daniel Nesheim; two sisters, Agnes Clair and Minnie Reetz; and three brothers, Edwin, Eugene and Reuben Ericson. Survivors include a daughter, Darlene (Dale) Wicklund, Tomah, WI; a granddaughter, Cynthia (Mike) Frey and their son, Daniel, Whitehall, MT; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Casketbearers will be Roger, David, and Richard Ericson, Virgil and Neal Reetz, Arlyn Clair and Dale Wicklund. Martin Funeral Home of Waukon is assisting the family.
