Marion M. Cooper, 87, of Waukon, died Wed., Dec. 20, 2000 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon.
Funeral services were held Sat., Dec. 23 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Waukon with Rev. Steve Campbell officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Marion Mae Henderson Cooper was born Oct. 19, 1913 on the Franklin Township, rural Monona farm of her parents, William H. and Maude Mae (Stafford) Henderson. She attended Franklin #5 School in Volney. On June 20, 1934 she married Harmon E. Cooper in Waukon. Marion and Harmon raised their family and farmed together in the Volney area until moving to Waukon in 1982. Marion was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking and baking as well as canning vegetables from her garden. She also liked raising flowers, playing cards, and dancing. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed having them at her home for special events.
Marion is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harmon; a son, Stanley; a great-grandchild, Brooke Cooper; two brothers, Earl and Forrest Henderson; and three sisters, Gladys Huffman, Violet Walters, and Ruth Smith.
Survivors include four daughters, Dorothy (Robert) Henning of Ossian, Marlene (Donald) Hartley of New Albin, and Judy (Jerry) Sommer and Beverly Jean (Tom) Leiran, both of Waukon; four sons, Virgil of Salt Lake City, UT, Vernon (Eilene) Cooper of Lansing, Daryl (Inez) Cooper of Waukon, and Marlin Cooper of Waterville; 34 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother-in-law, Delbert (Lucille) Cooper of Onalaska, WI; and four sisters-in-law, Mabel Henderson of Cross Plains, WI, Doris Cooper of Harrison, AR, and Florence and Ruth Cooper, both of Waukon.
Casketbearers were James Henning, Scott Hill, Jim Cooper, Brian Leiran, James Sommer, Wayne Cooper, and Todd Hartley.
Martin Luther Homes of Waukon assisted the family.
