Michael “Tower” Justin Wieczorek, 19, of Decorah, decided to leave this world on May 9 in Iowa City, where he had been in attendance at the University of Iowa.
A memorial service was held at the Whalen cabin in Phelps Park, Decorah, on May 14. Many of his friends and family gathered to share their sorrow and pray that Michael has found peace. A funeral and burial were held in New Brighton, MN, on May 15. A memorial service was held in Iowa City on May 12 at the site of his death for those grieving there.
Michael was born June 25, 1980. He is survived by his father, Dennis Pottratz of Decorah, and his mother, Sue Wieczorek of New Brighton. Other survivors include his brother, John, of New Brighton; his grandfather, Floyd Pottratz, New Albin; three uncles, Tom Pottratz, Indianapolis, IN, Lloyd Pottratz, Davenport, and Bob Pottratz, Melrose, MN; three aunts, Angela Lager, Mankato, MN, Becky Andresen, Davenport, and Christy Lampert, Freeburg, MN.
