Obituary from The Lansing Mirror, Lansing, Iowa, Friday September 12, 1890 (Found on microfilm at the Iowa State Historical Society and retyped from notes.)

MADE TO MOURN
Mary, wife of Charles Bergeler, died at home in Lansing Saturday at 2:00 p.m. aged 48 years, 7 months and 24 days. Mrs. Bergeler's maiden name was Willeich and was born in Germany. She came to America and to Allamakee County at the age of 24 years and lived with her brother. Mary was married to Charles Bergeler in October 1867 and lived thereafter in Lansing. She leaves to mourn with her husband, three grown children. The Funeral was held Tuesday at the German Presbyterian church, Rev. H. Schutt officiating. A sister, Mrs John Englehorn from Windom, Nebraska and Mr. Bergeler's brother Mr. G. C. Bergeler of Waukesha, Wisconsin were among the out of town attendees.
Mr. Bergeler and son Willie were called home from Church's Ferry, North Dakota a week or so ago, but son Charles of Leadville, Colorado did not arrive in time.
