Ruby Ryan

Ruby Ryan, 65, of Waukon, died Friday, March 26, 1999, at her home following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 30, at 11 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon, with the Rev. Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg officiating.

Casket bearers were Jamie Ryan, Sean Ryan, John Ryan, Greg Thiele, Ron Thiele, Bruce Boyum and Paul Osterholm.

Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Waukon. The Martin Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Ruby Elizabeth (Thiele) Ryan was born Oct., 18, 1933, in Waukon, the daughter of Edward and Pearl (Weber) Thiele. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon.

She graduated from Waukon High School and attended Drake University in Des Moines. On Oct. 30, 1952, she married Matthew Ryan in Rochester, Minn.

Ruby was a homemaker, but also worked at Ryan Dry Cleaners, Waukon Golf and Country Club, Waukon Bakery and Catering, and Klenske Drug Store.The past several years she was the manager at Huba-Huba convenience store in Waukon.

Ruby was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She enjoyed golf, cards, the company of her many friends, shopping, gardening and raising flowers, sewing, knitting and cooking, especially for groups.

Survivors include her husband, Matt; four sons, Tom and Mary Ryan of Washburn, Jeff and Julie Ryan of Ankeny, Scott and Debbie Ryan of Hutchinson, Minn., and Rick Ryan of Kenosha, Wis.; two daughters, Lisa and Scott McFall of Springfield, Mo., and Beth and John Ravis of Yukon, Okla.; a special friend and niece, Lady Branham of Chicago; two sisters, Ruth Bale of Minneapolis, Minn., and Marion Boyum of Faribault, Minn.; one brother, Chester and Ellen Thiele of Waukon; and 13 grandchildren.

Ruby Ryan was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Delmar Thiele.
