Funeral services for Otto Peter Martin, well known undertaker of Allamakee county were held Friday afternoon, April 23, at 2:00 p.m. from Zion United Church of Christ with Rev. Mr. D.D. Kauffman officiating. Interment was in Oakland Cemetery with Ed Schulz, Merrill Hinrichs, Alfred Hansmeier, Otto Kosbau, Otto Nolting and Everett Leas serving as pallbearers. Mr. Martin had not been too well of late and passed away on April 21.
Otto Martin was born on July 21, 1878 at Waukon to Henry and Sophia Bieber Martin. He had lived his entire life in Waukon and had been a licensed mortician for 69 years, retiring a few years ago. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and of Zion Reformed United Church of Christ.
Mr. Martin was married on Jan. 20, 1904 to Mary Hansmeier at Waukon. This respected couple were privileged to observe their 50th wedding anniversary in 1964. Surviving are his wife, three sons, Ralph Martin. Mexico City, Mexico; James Martin, Gross Point, Mich.; Howard Martin, Waukon; one daughter, Marjorie, Mrs. Oliver Kirkeby, Des Moines. There is one brother, Wayne Martin, McGregor, and a sister, Mrs. Gretta McKay, Long Beach, Calif. There are eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
