Devallo Cassidy, 72, formerly of Allamakee county, died on March 11, in a Chicago hospital.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 15, at St. Domitilla's Church in Hillsdale, Ill. Burial was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers were his five sons and a nephew, Dan Courtney.
Devallo Cassidy was born on June 16, 1903 in Lafayette township, the son of Clara Burns and Thomas Cassidy.
He was educated in the rural schools and at I.C. High School in Lansing.
He was married to Katherine Crowe in 1924. They farmed for a year, then moved to Chicago. They became the parents of five sons, Devallo Jr., Donald, Arlyn and Allan (twins) and Leroy, all of whom survive.
He retired as a milkman in 1965 and worked as a school custodian until 1976.
His first wife died in 1962, and in June of 1968 he was married to Mary Adams of Chicago. She survives along with seven stepchildren.
He is also survived by a brother Thomas of Wexford; and four sisters, Marcella England and Clara Rose Creitz, both of Chicago, Seonia Ward of California, and Lavonne Kamp of Denver, Colorado, six grandchildren and 24 step-grandchildren survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
