Coila B. Nolting, 82, of Waukon died Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 16 at 11 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, with Pastor Samantha Houser officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 15 at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.

Coila Bernita Nolting was born November 18, 1927 on her parents' farm in rural Waukon, the daughter of Harry and Clara (Sorenson) Sorum. She was baptized and confirmed at West Paint Creek Synod Lutheran Church in rural Waukon. She graduated form Waukon High School in 1946 and attended Waukon Jr. College. Coila worked at Equity Grocery Store and Graham's Clothing Store for Women, both in Waukon.

April 9, 1960 she married Emmet Nolting at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church in rural Waterville. They farmed together in Union Prairie and Ludlow Townships in rural Waukon, where they milked dairy cows, raised crops, beef cows and hogs.

Coila was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and the Farm Bureau. She enjoyed collecting antiques, fishing, working in her vegetable and flower gardens, going to garage sales and auctions and traveling the United States, especially through the southern states. Coila also enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Emmet Nolting of Waukon; a daughter, Diane Nolting of Waukon; and a niece, Judith Robinson and her son Travis, both of Maryland. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.

Honorary casket bearers are Janice Bahr, Rhonda Bahr, Ada Borntrager, Barb Hershberger, Susan Hershberger, Mert and Marcella Iverson, Rosie Piggott, Charles and Lois Rolfs, Lil Schmieden, Marge Selberg, Ordell and Bonnie Sorum, Burnell and Anita Sorum and Anna Yoder. Casket bearers are Dave Bahr, Dani Bahr, Greg Piggott, Clarence Borntrager, Melvin Hershberger, Sylvanus Hershberger, Wayne Schmieden and Gary Nolting.
