From Lansing, IA newspaper, Sept. 1890
"News has been received here of the death of Mr. Abner Wood, an old time respected resident of Lansing, at his home in Dekalb, Ill., last Saturday, September 27. Mr. Wood first visited Lansing in 1856, and in 1862 moved here with his family, and continued to reside here until 1875. While a citizen of Lansing, he was prominent in many business enterprises. In 1863 he with Homer Hemenway established the old cradle factory, which the firm of Hemenway and Wood operated for several years. In 1868 in became interested in the Lumber Mill and was identified with its business and the firm of Hemenway, Wood & Co. until 1873."

NOTE: I don't know of any relationship to the Hemenway family other than being business partners.
