Dorothy Mae (Schultz) Paulsen, 85, Postville, Iowa, died Saturday, May 15, 2010, at her home following a sudden illness. Dorothy was born on August 22, 1924, on a farm in Bloomfield Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa, to Louis and Louise (Kamp) Schultz. She was baptized on September 24, 1924, by Pastor E. Schmidt and confirmed on November 13, 1938, by Pastor Frederick R. Ludwig. She attended Postville Public School.
Dorothy was united in marriage to LeRoy Brink on November 8, 1942, at Kahoka, Missouri. Two daughters were born to this union.
On October 15, 1967, Dorothy was united in marriage to Henry J. Paulsen at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, by Rev. Glen L. Uutterback.
Dorothy was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars 9125 and held the offices of Sr. Vice President and President. For many years she bowled and loved her flowers. Most of all her biggest love was her family.
Survivors who loved her dearly include two daughters, Karen Heins (Jerry), Postville, Caryl Heins (Nathan) Postville; one sister, Myrtle Weipert, Dubuque; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and also many others who loved her as a mom, grandma, and great-grandma.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeRoy Brink; late husband, Henry Paulsen on February 22, 1983; one sister, Eunice Newcomb; one grandson, Jay Heins; one nephew, Ed Wlochal and also her three beloved dogs, Chippo, Slippo and Rags.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at 11:00 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. The Rev. Steve Brackett will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Postville Cemetery in Postville, Iowa.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, from 4-7 p.m. at the Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Postville, Iowa, and one hour before services at the church.
Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
