FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. TOM KELLEHER
Mrs. Thomas Kelleher passed away at her home in Lansing New Years Eve fom the infirmities of age. As Mary Ann Burns, she was born August 12, 1872 in Lafayette township, a daughter of Rose Hurm and John Burns, pioneer settlers of that vicinity. Following her education she was married on October 10th, 1899 to Thomas Kelleher at Wexford and they farmed until about twenty years ago when they moved to Lansing which has since been her home. Her entire life was spent in this area.
They were the parents of seven sons and one daughter, among whom left to mourn the passing of a loving and dutiful mother are Elmer, Leonard, Sylvester, Merle and James and Leona, Mrs. John Weber, all of Lansing and vicinity. Other immediate survivors include one brother, Thomas Burns, of LaCrosse, and one sister, Mrs. Adolph Mathis, of Waukon, besides 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband eleven years ago, and two sons, Reuben, a few years ago and Clement at the age of nine months.
Mrs. Kelleher was a member of the Rosary Society and for many years active in Women's Catholic League. Her family and home along with her deeply religious interests made up a long fruitful life. She managed to do all of her own work until a couple of years ago and while hospitalized at various times always seemed to rally and get better. It is with deep regreat (sic) that many of our older readers will learn of her death fortified by the last rites of Holy Mother Church will assure her family and friends of an everlasting reward. She enjoyed the great privilege of celebrating her Golden Wedding anniversary in October of 1949.
Funeral services were held Thursday morning at ten o'clock from the Burke Funeral Chapel to Immaculate Conception Church in Lansing with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Henry Scharphoff offering the Mass of Requiem with burial in the family lot in Wexford. Casket bearers were six grandsons, Karl, Donald, Daniel, Joseph and William Kelleher and John Weber, Jr. Honorary pallbearers from the Rosary Society were Mesdames, Lena Troendle, Gene Brennan, Mike Mullarkey, Margaret Guider, Frank Wagner and Miss Rose Hurm.
