Leonard M. Larson, 96, of Makee Manor in Waukon died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1993 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 20, at 1 p.m. at Glenwood Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Joseph Lambert officiating. Burial was at Pontoppidan Cemetery. The Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Larry, Dennis and Tom Daniels; Kevin Lein; Reg and Dr. Bruce Sampson; Dr. Steven Wright; Kelly and Brian Schuler; Scott and Doug Ewing; Mark, Matthew and Ross Jensen; Gregg and Gary Klein; and Darren, Todd, Tony, D.J., Eric and Jason Larson.

Leonard M. Larson was born on his parent's farm July 6, 1897. His parents were Hans and Anna (Skaim) Larson. He was educated in the rural schools of Allamakee County.

He married Thelma Moen Skaim in Dubuque, Dec. 30, 1939. He farmed in the area all his life.

He was active in Glenwood Lutheran Church and its men's brotherhood. He enjoyed any family activity or event, playing cards, pool, dancing and playing his harmonica. He was quite fond of his grandchildren.

Survivors include nine daughters: Millie (Bob) Daniels of Waterloo, Jan (Bob) Lein of Austin, Minn., Thelma (Lester) Sampson of Decorah, Gladys Howe of Waterloo, Lorraine Wright of Cedar Falls, Markeata (Dennis) Lickteig of Waterloo, Adeline Jensen of Cedar Rapids, Anna Marie (Jerry) Ewing of Waterville and Darlene Klein of Waukon; four sons: Harry (Dorene) Larson of McGregor, Clark (Gloria) Larson of Allentown, Pa., Daryl (Ellen) Larson of Waverly and David (Linda) Larson of Trenton, NJ; 40 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters: Mabel Loven of Waukon and Nora Moen of Decorah; and one brother: Harry (Mary) Larson of Decorah.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Thelma, who died March 19, 1989; one sister, Ida Moen; two brothers, Adolph and Martin Larson; grandson Jeffrey Wright; a daughter-in-law, Janet Larson; and three sons-in-law, Graydon Howe, Richard Wright and Robert Jensen.
