Funeral services for James Lennon were held Thursday, April 8, 1999, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, Iowa. The Reverend Robert Hupp officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.

James Mackintire Lennon, the son of Elmer James and Cora Elnora (French) Lennon, was born July 23, 1910, on a farm in Winneshiek County north of Castalia, Iowa. He passed away Saturday, April 3, 1999, in University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics at Iowa City, Iowa.

He was baptized July 11, 1920 and confirmed on May 17, 1925 in the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church by the Reverend Paul Koren. James attended the Frankville School No. 6 and was graduated from the Postville High School in 1929. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.

On August 4, 1940 he was married to Wilma Haining. They made their home in the Postville and Clermont areas. James had worked for the railroad for a time. He also farmed and was employed by the Postville Telephone Company for many years. His father, Elmer Lennon, was serving as Postville Town Constable and was killed in the line of duty. James then served a short time as Constable for the Town of Postville.

He was well-known in the community and interested in local and world current events. His hobbies were sports and working crossword puzzles.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary Lennon McGee and her husband LeRoy, of Des Moines, Iowa. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Sarah (Ed) Nelson, of Postville, Iowa.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a brother, Howard E. Lennon.

Casket bearers were Kenneth French, R. F. Schneider, Dean French, Doug Appelman, Dale French and Millard Nelson, Jr.
