Funeral service for Letha Gericke were held Monday, July 21, 1986 at 10:00 a.m. at the Schutte Funeral home in Postville. Rev. David H. Palm officiated. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.

Letha Helen Gericke, daughter of Elmer and Annabel (Taylor) Hesner, was born June 22, 1904 in Lamont, IA. She died Thursday, July 17 at her home in Postville.

She graduated from the Lamont High School in 1922 and received her teaching certificate from Cedar Falls Teachers College. Letha taught school for many years in South Dakota, Lamont, Monona and Postville.

On June 3, 1937 she was married to Milo Gericke. They had a son, John. They owned and operated the Postville Locker for over 30 years.

She is preceded in death by her father, Elmer, who died in 1945 and her mother, Annabel who died in 1962 and a brother, John, who died in 1971.

Surviving are her husband, Milo, a son, John and his wife, Barbara, of Postville, one grandson, Anthony and a sister, Ethel, and her husband, Otto, of Aurora.

Casketbearers were William, Gerald, John, James and Robert Falck and Anthony Gericke.
