Bert Klinkel Dies Early Saturday

WELL KNOWN BUSINESS MAN OF WAUKON SUCCUMBS TO ILLNES AT ROCHESTER

Funeral Servicces were held Tuesday afternoon from the home for Bert Klinkel, whp passed away at the Colonial hospital in Rochester Friday evening at the age of 63 years. Mr. Klinkel died of a kidney aliment which resulted in pneumonia. He was sick only two weeks.
Mr. Klinkel was born July 17, 1875, on a farm near Rossville, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Klinkel. He had spent his entirelife in this county.
Mr. Klinkel and Frank Klees operated a hardware store in Waukon, bought out from William Narum in the years from 1905 to 1913. For a number of years he operated an oil station next to his home on West Main. He was secretary of the fair board for a number of years and acted most efficently in any task he was assigned to do. Mr. Klinkel had a host of friends because of his good naturedness and thoughtfulness toward others.
Mr. Klinkel was married to Margaret Smith seventeen years ago who with one son, Robert, survive him. He is also survived by the following brother and sisters, Levi and Casper of Charles City, Mrs. Ella Carpenter of Waukon, Mrs. Mary Schoonmaker of Lewistown, Mon., Mrs. Martha Koonitz of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Anna McGoon of St. Paul. He is also survived by a nephew, Frank Klees of Waukon, who spent much time with him at the hospital in Rochester, and who with Mrs. Klinkel and Robert and Mr. and Mrs. Levi Klinkel were with him at the time of his death.
Pall bearers were A. F. Dierauer, Albert I. Steffen, John E. Meier, Frank Dunning, Paul Renne and K. P. Quandahl.
Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Levi Klinkel of Charles City, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Klinkel, Miss Minnie Dull, Mrs. Della Klinkel of Monona, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mosier amd Mr. and Mrs. Bert Gast of Nora Springs, Mr. and Mrs. L. Van Pelt of Decorah, Mrs. Henry McGoon of St. Paul, Mrs Leslie Leas and Mr. and Nrs. Edgar Deal of Rossiville, Mrs. Charles Cilde of Cresco, Mrs. Emma Eleyet and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wilson, mother and sister of Mrs. Klinkel and the latter's brother Alba Smith of Dayton, Ohio
