Mrs. F. H. Meierkord Passes Suddenly Sunday Evening

Death in its most tragic form came Sunday to take the life of Mrs. F. H. Meierkord of Waukon who passed away at 10 o'clock that evening in her home as a result of a heart attack. She had attended church in the morning and in the afternoon had visited her cottage at Waukon Junction with her family. Upon their return home shortly before six o'clock, she complained of an illiness which then developed into the fatal heart attack.
The deceased was born on August 8, 1886, on a farm east of Waukon being 53 years old at the time of her death. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bieber.
As Miss Lydia Bieber, she was married to Fred Meierkord on June 1st, 1910, and since livedin Waukon in the home on East Main street.
Mrs. Meierkord was wholly devoted to her family was known to be the best mothers and homemakers. Her sense of the beautiful was expressed in the artistic furnishing of her home in antique furniture and in the appreciation of music. She was educated in the Waukon Public schools, and was a member of the Zion Reformed church, the Browning Literary club and the local chapter of the P.E.O.
Surviving to mourn her loss are her husband, and son, Dt. John Meierkord, dentist in Waukon; two sisters, Mrs. J. H. Huecker and Miss Emma Bieber, both of Waukon.
Proceeding her in death were two sisters, Mrs. Charles Dravis and Mrs. Theodore Stock; and three brothers, John, Peter, and Phil Bieber.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the home with the Rev. Ezra Vornhalt of La Cross officiating, the son of a former pastor of the Waukon Zion Reformed church, and burial will be in Oakland cemetery.
