Bridget Manning Duffy died November 29, 1909.
Death notice in the Allamakee Journal newspaper of Wednesday, December 15, 1909, reads:

The remains of Mrs. Pat Duffy of Curlew, Iowa, were brought to Harpers Ferry laset Wednesday. They were accompanied by her husband and children and were met at the train by a large crowd of sorrowing relatives and friends, who followed the remains to Wexford where High Mass was said by Father Laffan for the repose of her soul. Mrs. Duffy was raised here from childhood up to the time of her marriage, when she, with her husband moved to the western part of the state. She was a kind and dutiful daughter, a loving wife and mother, and home without her will never be the same to the bereaved family, who have the sympathy of all in this, their hour of trouble. Mrs. Duffy leaves to mourn her loss a husband and four children, Mrs. James Mooney, Thomas, Annie and John, besides four brothers and four sisters, as follows: John, Mike, Jim and Jerry Manning, the latter of Beardsford, S. D. , Mrs. Pat Murphy, Mrs. Mary Gleason of Lansing, Mrs. T. W. Brennan and Mrs. Will Whalen, all of whom had the consolation of seeing her recently except her brother Jerry. May her well spent life merit the company of the blessed in heaven.

Added by S. Ferrall June 9, 2013:

Mrs. Patrick Duffy died at her home in Great Oak township Sunday evening at 9:30. She had been very ill in the early fall but of late had been feeling very well. For a few days before her death she did not feel well but it was not anticipated that the end was so near. Her heart was weak and she could not stand the strain of an illness.

The body was taken to Allamakee county, leaving here last evening, and the funeral will be held today at Wexford.

Miss Bridget Manning was born at Syracuse, New York, June 10, 1859. She came to Iowa and located at Harpers Ferry, where on January 10, 1883 she was united in marriage to Patrick Duffy. Shortly after their marriage they came to this county and located in Great Oak township where they resided until the time of her death.

Four children were born to them. They are Thomas, John and Anna Duffy and Mrs. James Mooney. The latter resides at Harpers Ferry. Her family were all with her at the time of her death.

It is with the deepest sorrow that we chronicle the death of this good woman. We knew her well and can truly say no truer, better or more charitable woman have we in all our acquaintance than she. She was the joy and sunshine of her home. She was naturally of a sunny and cheerful nature and to this she added continual effort to make home happy. Her children felt the warmth of a genuine mother love and care and no effort was spared by her to make her home the most inviting place to her husband and children. How sadly will such a wife and mother be missed. Time will heal the wounds of sorrow but never will that mother love die but will constantly abide with the loved ones she leaves behind. Mrs. Duffy was a kind neighbor and without any neglect of her home duties she found time to lend a helping hand to those outside her home who were in need of her service. Gentle in manner with never an unkind word of any one, faithful to every duty and trust, this life was indeed exemplary.

To the sorrowing husband and children we extend sincere sympathy and trust that they may be granted strength to bear their great sorrow.
