Pat Manning, died November 18, 1899. Notice in the Allamakee Journal, Lansing, IA (date unknown) reads:
FOUND DEAD IN HIS HOME
Patrick Manning, a well know resident of Lafayette township, was found dead in his home Saturday morning last by his brother John who had occasion to go to the house that morning. Deceased lived alone. He came to Lansing the previous day and stopped by his brother’s on this way home. At that time he was apparently in his usual health. His team had been put out and cared for and purchased articles taken into the house. A light was still burning on the table in the morning and some newspapers strewn about, indicating that he had been engaged in reading before the sudden summons came. He was found kneeling beside a chair, his head resting thereon. The Coroner was called and a jury impounded who found he came to his death from heart failure. Deceased was 46 years old and a very strongly built man. The funeral on Monday was largely attended, interment being at Wexford.
