MRS. DARIUS (Bertha Harris) ORR
Mrs. Bertha Orr, 75, a lifelong resident of this community, passed away at the Postville hospital this morning following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at two o'clock in the Schutte funeral home, with the Rev. Eldon L. Seamans in charge of the services. Interment will be in Postville cemetery.
Born at Hardin, January 12, 1871, she was the daughter of William and Charity McDonald Harris, pioneer residents of this community. She received her education in the Lybrand school, in which district she grew to womanhood.
On November 26, 1889, she was married to Darius Orr, who passed away in January 1941. To this couple were born four daughters, who survive. They are Ethel, Mrs. George L. Opper of Riverside, Ill.; Edith, Mrs. John A. Palas, of Postville; Mrs. Esther Swenson of River Forest, Ill., and Eve Orr of Muskogee, Okla.
For many years Mrs. Orr and her family resided on the Orr homestead northeast of town, moving to Postville a number of years ago. Of late Mrs. Orr had been living with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Palas.
Mrs. Orr is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. E. N. Churchill of Monroe, Wis., Mrs. A. C. Webster and Mrs. O. J. Beucher of Postville.
