Velma Nelson

Mrs. Clarence Nelson, nee Velma Kamp, the daughter of William Kamp and Bertha Martens Kamp, was born in Winneshiek County, Castalia, Iowa on May 1, 1905. She was baptized in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville on November 25, 1905 and confirmed on August 26, 1917. She died at the Community Memorial Hospital on November 1, 1964, following a brief illness, at the age of 59 years and six months.

She was married to Clarence Nelson on February 12, 1924. To this union was born one daughter. The couple lived in Postville or the surrounding area all of their lives.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her father.

She is survived by one daughter, Shirley, Mrs. Marvin Fosaaen of Postville; her mother, Mrs. William Kamp of Postville; four brothers, Edward of Clermont, Art of Stillwater, Minnesota, Emil of Postville and Lloyd of Postville; and many other relatives and friends.

She taught school at the Central Community School at Volga for many years, when her illness forced her to resign.

She was an active member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville all of her life.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 4, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Postville, at 1:30 p.m. Interment was in the Postville cemetery with The Rev. Charles E. Witt, pastor of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating.
