Clarence Nelson, the son of Christian Nelson and his wife, Karine Kittleson Nelson, was born in Marion township, Gunder, Iowa on July 15, 1902. He was baptized in the Marion Lutheran Church at Gunder and confirmed on May 13, 1917. He died at his home on December 12, 1963 at the age of 61 years, four months and 27 days.
He was united in marriage to Velma Kamp on February 12, 1924. To this union was born one daughter. The couple has lived their entire married life in the Postville area.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary, Mrs. Otto Wullner of Cedar Rapids.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Shirley Mae, Mrs. Marvin Fosaaen of Postville; one brother, Edward Nelson of Postville; four sisters, Laura, Mrs. Peter Madsen of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, Pearl, Mrs. Alfred Martie of Monona, Ida, Mrs. Martin Halvorson of Wadena, Clara, Mrs. Walter Martie of Postville, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Postville, on Sunday, December 15, at 1:30 p.m. Interment was in the Postville cemetery with the Rev. Charles E. Witt officiating.
