The deaths of two young men from tuberculosis, Hugh Meade in a N. Y. sanitarium, and Karl Rud at his home in Lansing, occurred the past week and were not unexpected. The former was buried at Emmetsburg.

Hugh Meade Dead
Hugh Meade was born in Emmetsburg, May 11, 1886. He obtained his education in St. Mary Academy. Upon leaving school he entered the employ of Godden and Baliard where he worked for eight years. He then went to Lansing where he worked for five years. In July, 1913, he began ailing for the first time. He worked on however until Christmas when he came home. In January he went to New York to the home of his sister, Mrs. Powell, where he remained until April when he went up to Sarannac Lake, locted in the Adriondack Mountains, where he remained until his death. His father, mother, two brother, Clark of Mason City and Frank, and two sisters, Mrs. F.D. Powell of New York and Mrs. Leo O'Connor survive him.Among those who came from out of the county to attend the funeral of Hugh Meade were, Mr. and Mrs. Frank D. Powell of New York, and Mr. and Mrs. Clark Meade of Mason City, Misses Clara and Eva Fitzpatrick of Lansing, Allen Sharp and wife of Lake Park, Abbie Gardener Sharp of Spirit Lake, and Mrs. Esther Woods of Missouri.
