Edna Marie Dahl, 94, of rural Manly, died Friday, April 10, 2009 at the Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 15 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manly, with Rev. Linda Johnson-Prestholt officiating. Interment will be in Manly Cemetery, Manly. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 14 from 4-7 p.m. at the Bride Colonial Chapel, Manly, and then one hour before the service Wednesday at the church. The family suggests memorials to Edna Marie Dahl Memorial Fund.
Edna was born January 25, 1915, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Wemken) Dietrich, on the family farm rural Manly. She graduated from Manly High School in 1933. Edna married Philip Dahl April 2, 1937 on the family farm in rural Manly. They lived on the Dahl family century farm in rural Manly.
Edna enjoyed gardening, was known for her cooking, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Sarah Circle and Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manly.
Edna is survived by her four children, Allan Dahl of Manly, Anita (Marvin) Petersen of Waukon, Lorraine (Ray) Gordon of Manly, and Connie (Dan) Yelland of Sheffield; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leonard (Lila) Dietrich of Manly and Glen (Dorothy) Dietrich of Clear Lake; a sister-in-law, Clarice Dietrich of Kensett; and a brother-in-law, Wallace (Doris) Dahl of Manly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-in-law, Mike Harnack; a grandson, Troy Dahl; a brother, Wayne Dietrich; and two sisters, Mildred Lee and an infant sister Olga Mae.
