MAYNARD: — Frederick William Pliester, son of Herman and Sophia Pliester was born at Davenport, Iowa, Aug. 9, 1880 and passed away at his home in Maynard, Aug. 24 at the age of 68 years.
With his parents and sister, at the age of four, he moved to Postville where the family settled on a farm.
On June 16, 1909 he was married to Grace Hill of Decorah by her brother, the Rev. M. L. Hill. They made their home on a farm five, miles northwest of Postville. In December 1919 they moved to the city of Postville where he was engaged in carpenter work. Having lived there for nine years, they moved to Decorah where they made their home for 17 years.
In October of 1945 they located at Maynard where he was associated with his son, Ralph, in the produce business.
Those who survive him include his wife, three children; Ralph; Maynard, Ray; Oelwein, and Mrs. Evelyn Helgeson of Robbinsdale, Minn. Five grandchildren also survive him. His parents and sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Delsing funeral home in Maynard Burial was in Postville cemetery, with the Rev. R. F. Galloway officiating: Services were held at the Community church there at 2:30 p.m.
