Percy E. Benedict

Percy E. (Bud) Benedict, 74, of Dayton, OH, devoted husband and father, passed away quietly at home February 4, 2008 after a long battle with cardiovascular disease. Funeral services were held Sunday, February 10. A reception followed at the Schlientz and Moore Funeral Home in Centerville, OH. Burial was conducted Monday, February 11 at Centerville Cemetery.

He was born June 25, 1933 in Black River Falls, WI. He was the 1951 basketball team co-captain at Waukon Senior High School, where he received the scholar athlete award. He proudly served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, working in electronic counter-measures. In 1961, he graduated with a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Missouri.

He began his career on the Titan II missile program, then worked for 29 years at WPAFB on development of the F-15 fighter plane, B-1 bomber and cruise missile programs. In his spare time, he was an avid sports fan and loved all things pertaining to automobiles.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys, and his dad, Percival. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Judy; sons Michael (Melissa) Benedict, M.D. and David (Laurie) Benedict; grandchildren Erin, Erick and Elise; and three sisters, Diane Prestemon, Delores Olson and Michelle Rourke.
