Jack Lewis Whitehead

Jack Lewis Whitehead, son of Fred Shadley and Leona Whitehead, was born Dec. 29, 1919 at Chicago, Ill. He died on Saturday, Sept. 25, 1993 at the Allen Memorial Hospital of Waterloo. He was 73.

He attended New Sharon schools. On March 17, 1944 he was married to Audrey June Ladwig at Nashua, Iowa. To this union, two children were born. Jack had been employed in the Jefferson, Bloomfield, Marion and Sibley areas. He was employed at the Allamakee-Clayton Electric Cooperative in Postville for 35 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Lodge and had served as Scoutmaster for five years.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Audrey, who died in 1987. Surviving are his daughter, Susan Feickert and her husband Allen, of Marion; a son Jim and his wife Sherry, of Hudson; and four grandchildren, Wade and Bradley Feickert and Amber and Drew Whitehead.

Memorial services were held Friday, Oct. 1, 1993 at 1 p.m. in the Community Presbyterian Church, Postville, the Rev. Reuben Tjaden and the Rev. Dick Harberts officiating. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Zion Cemetery at Sumner.
