Audrey Whitehead
A memorial service for Audrey Whitehead was held Monday, July 13, 1987 at 10:30 a.m. in the Community Presbyterian Church, Postville. The Rev. Terrance P. Hennesy, officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Interment will be at a later date at Sumner.
Audrey June Whitehead, daughter of Elwin E. and Edna P. (Hampton) Ladwig, was born June 19, 1922 at Sumner. She died Thursday, July 9, 1987 in Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids.
She graduated from the Sumner High School and was employed at a meat market in Sumner before her marriage. On March 17, 1944 she married Jack L. Whitehead at Nashua, Iowa. The couple had 2 children.
They have lived in the Jefferson, Bloomfield, Marion and Sibley areas. For the past 35 years they have lived in Postville. Audrey had been employed at the Pines Motel as a clerk, at Koevening's Variety Store, Hanson's and Palmquist's Department Store.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are her husband, Jack; a son, James and his wife Sherry, of Waterloo; a daughter, Susan and her husband, Allen Feickert, of Marion and 4 grandchildren.
Audrey was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and the UPW. She taught Sunday School, helped with Bible School and served on the Social Service Committee. She was also active in the community working with the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts.
