Gordon Bender Dies After Long Illness

Gordon Bender died at the home of his mother, Mrs. Dott Bender, Dec. 20, 1928. He was born near Forest Mills June 8, 1916, being 12 years, 6 months and 12 days old at the time of his demise. He had been sick for the past two years nearly all of the time, suffering first from heart trouble later followed by dropsy.

He was of a bright and sunny disposition, always looking on the bright side of life, being kind and patient through all his long illness. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was baptised in the Presbyterian church at Waukon, Iowa, Oct. 2, 1927.

His father (Arthur) preceded him in death four years ago last June, and a little sister Flora Mae preceded him in death last Oct. 1927, and also an infant brother.

He leaves to mourn him, his mother, Mrs. Dott (Gilson) Bender and a brother Albert, his grandmother, Mrs. John P. Gilson, three aunts and four uncles and numerous other relatives and a host of friends who will miss dear little Gordon.

Why he should go
His life has been so brief,
But the Lord who sent
For what he only lent
Will help us bear our grief.
For the Lord still lives
And he who gives
Has the power to take away.
In the sight of his face
He has prepared a place
For our dear little Gordon.
