Mrs. Anton Kolden Passed Away at La Crosse Monday, June 4, 1945
Mrs. Anton Kolden, 50 died Monday morning at the Lutheran hospital, La Crosse, having been taken there Sunday by ambulance. Although in ill health the past 11 years from a complication of diseases, her sudden death came as a shock to her family and friends.
As Dott Lizzie Gilson, she was born to Mr. and Mrs. John P. Gilson in Franklin township on Oct. 15, 1894, and grew to womanhood in that vicinity. She was married twice. On Oct. 14, 1911 she wedded Arthur Bender, who died suddenly several years ago. Three children were born to them, two of whom, Gordon and Flora Mae, died in childhood, and Albert, two years ago.
In November 1932 her marriage to Anton Kolden took place. He survives her, with their only son Wayne, and a stepson, Alfred Kolden; also two sisters and four brothers, namely; Albert Gilson, Volney; Mrs. Seward Swenson (Lucy), Monona; John and Mrs. Nelvin Steiber (Reva), Waukon; Fred, Burlington, and Orrie, Post township.
Deceased was an active member of the Rebekah lodge and Woman's Relief Corps as long as her health permitted.
The remains were brought from La Crosse and taken to the late home of the deceased, where many friends called to pay their respects.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at the Presbyterian church, conducted by the Rev. A. H. Grossheim. Burial will take place in Smithfield cemetery, Franklin township.
