Death of William Renne of Ludlow

Carl Frederick William Renne died Friday at the home of his only daughter, Mrs. Charles Wallace, where he had resided since his wife's death two years ago, and where he had received every care and attention it was possible to give him.

Deceased was born Nov. 4, 1840, at Rindel, Hessen Shamburg, Germany. He received his early training in Europe where he was also admitted to full church membership through baptism and confirmation. In April, 1867, he immigrated to America and ever since had made his home in Allamakee county, living the greater part of his life on a farm in Ludlow township.

In 1871 he was married to Louise Boke. Their wedded life was of very brief duration due to her death. She left one son Fred and the father.

In April 18, 1876, he was married to Johanna Caroline Henrietta Kugel. It was their privilege to share life's pleasures and cares for 40 years, until the fall of 1916 when she died. Father Renne never fully rallied from the shock caused by her death. He often expressed the desire to be permitted to follow her. Several weeks ago he became quite ill, growing gradually weaker until May 2nd, 1919, when he went to his rest at the age of 78 years, five months and 26 days.

Those surviving to mourn his death are five children, Fred, Charles, Gustave, Mrs. Charles Wallace and Paul, all of this vicinity except Gustave who resides at Cedar Rapids. Also 8 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many friends.

The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Zion Reformed church, conducted by Rev. E. Fledderjohann, followed by interment in Oakland cemetery.

Submitter's note: Marriage license at the Allamakee county court house, Waukon, Iowa. married Ludlow twp. Feb. 17, 1871 William Rinne and Louisa Boeke.
