A. Bruce Webster
A. Bruce Webster, who was born and raised in Postville, died at his home in Salem, OR, Saturday, September 12. He was 74 years old. Bruce graduated from Postville High School and from Cornell College in Mount Vernon in 1935. He married Margaret Baier in 1939, a former business teacher at Postville High School.
Bruce owned and operated a men's clothing store in Webster City for 5 years before being inducted into the Armed Services in World War II. He and his family moved to Sioux City in 1946 where he was Manager of the men's clothing department at the J. C. Penney store for 5 years. He then became a salesman at Morey's and Weatherwax men's stores in Sioux City. He and his wife moved to Salem, OR in 1974.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret, son John of Silverton, OR, daughters, Ann Webster-Shepherd of New York City and Linda Brusnman of Vernonia, OR, and mother, Glessner Webster, of Postville. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren in Silverton.
Bruce was a 5-year member of the Postville Masonic Lodge.
Services were held at the Unger Mortuary in Silverton on September 14 and interment was in Silverton's Valley View Cemetery.
