HERMAN GANG BURIED AT MAY'S PRAIRIE TUESDAYHerman Gang, after an illness of nine days with pneumonia died early Friday morning.
He was born on May's Prairie in May 1871. When but a small boy his mother died and he was taken into the Hirth home and grew up as a brother to Andrew Hirth with whom he was later associated in business. He attended May's Prairie School. In the rock church where he was converted and worshipped as long as he was in the community his funeral service with the Rev. H. J. Noeding officiating were held Tuesday afternoon. He was buried beside his parents in the nearby cemetery.
He is survived by four brothers, Joe of Sturgis, Mich.; John of Cando, N.D.; August of Middleburg, Ind., and Fred of San Bernandino, Cal. All but Fred were present at the funeral. Due to a misunderstanding in sending messages John Gang was not notified of his brother Herman's death until Saturday evening when his brother Joe called him at Cando, N.D., by long distance telephone. He left at once and arrived in LaCrosse Sunday afternoon. Alfred Pohlman drove up after him.
