Death of Louis Hirth

Louis Hirth, prominent farmer and stockman of Mays Prairie, died at 8 o'clock Monday morning at the Luther-hospital, La Crosse, where he was taken a couple weeks ago for treatment. Deceased had suffered for some time with rheumatism, and an abscess formed on his left limb, for which he had an operation at LaCrosse, but the shock proved too much for his weakened system to withstand.

Mr. Hirth was 59 years of age, being born on Mays Prairie, and spent his entire life in this neighborhood. He was much interested in fine stock raising and did much to improve the cattle industry in this county. He was widely known and numbered his friends by the hundreds. His word was as good as his bond, and his honesty and integrity unquestioned.

He married Miss Emma Wild, who died July 23, 1913. Six children survive them, as follows: Mesdames Ed. Lenz of Eagle Bend, Minn, and Lloyd Robinson, of Dubuque; Frank, Kermit, Flavia and Christina, at home. Twin boys died in infancy. Two brothers, Andrew of this city and Adam of Dubuque, and three sisters, Mesdames A. Decker and Wm. Wendel, Lansing; and Anna May of Church, also survive him.

Funeral from the family home this afternoon at 1 o'clock to the stone church on Mays Prairie, where services will be held and interment made. Rev. Panzlau, an old friend of the family, will preach the funeral sermon, and the remainder of the obsequies will be conducted by Rev. B. C. Wendlandt, the local pastor.
