Rites Held Here on Saturday For Mrs. Schroeder

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville for Mrs. Anna Schroeder, a life-long resident of this community who passed away on Wednesday, August 26, following a paralytic stroke.

Rev. Charles E. Witt, pastor of St. Paul's was in charge of the rites. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.

Anna Eliza Hahn, daughter of John Hahn and his wife Anna, nee Radkamen, was born March 28, 1873 on a farm on Henderson Prairie near Postville, Iowa. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed by Rev. John Gass on March 25, 1888 in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was united in married (sic) on December 4, 1890 to Louis H. Schroeder, also at St. Paul's by Rev. Gass.

She and her family have been life-long residents of the community. On November 20, 1950, she fell at her home, fracturing her hip, and has been an invalid since. During the past three years she has been faithfully and devotedly cared for by her daughter and son-in-law, Luver and Clara Schultz.

On Tuesday, August 18, she was taken to the Good Samaritan Home at West Union for care. On August 21, she suffered a paralytic stroke from which she never rallied, and passed away on August 26.

She has been a life-long member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, a member of the Ladies Aid Society for 50 years, and now an honorary member of the Women of The Church. She was a member of St. Paul's Sisterhood for many years and a member of Division 2 of the Women of the Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, two brothers, her husband, Louis, and two sons Edwin and Elmer.

She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Clara, her son-in-law, Luver Schultz, and one granddaughter, Dorothy Schultz of Houston, Texas, one sister, Mrs. Lena Meyer of Beloit, Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews.
