GEORGE B. SCHULTZCastalia Man dies in Hospital at Postville
George B Schultz. a resident of Castalia for many years, died Monday, Aug. 28, in the Community hospital at Postville. He was 85 years old.
Funeral Services were conducted Thursday by the Rev. Perry L. Brown in the United Methodist Church at Castalia. Mrs Florence Albright was pianist and Mrs. Kenneth Meyer was soloist. Burial was in Pleasant View cemetery at Castalia with the following grandsons of Mr. Schultz serving as pallbearers: Theodore Stortz, Peter Chihak, Thomas Stortz, Neil Hammersland, Daryl Schultz and Timothy Stortz.
George B. Schultz was born March 27, 1893 , in Clayton county, a son of the late Henry and Alvena (Warnholtz) Schultz. He received his education in the rural schools of Allamakee county. During World War I he served as a wagoner in the 337th machine gun infantry battalion.
On May 12, 1921, he married Miss Esther Myer at Decorah. They became the parents of two daughters who survive. They are Norma (Mrs. Charles Stortz) of Cedar Rapids and Gwenn (Mrs. Milton Koenig) of Castalia. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Schultz of Decorah and Henry Schultz of Castalia; and two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Schmidt of Castalia and Mrs.Dean Kneeskern of Preston, Minn.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, one in infancy, Elmer B. and Roy.
Mr Schultz lifelong occupation was a mechanic and station owner-operator. He was a member of the United Methodist church at Castalia and a member of the American Legion Post 518 at Postville.
