James A. Dayton Sr.

James A. Dayton, Sr., 61 432 Sumner St., died in a local hospital Tuesday Evening.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; five sons, James A. Dayton Jr.; John P.; Thomas R.; David M. Dayton all of La Crosse; Robert P. Dayton, USMC, Pt Mugu., Calif.; five daughters, Sister M. Ruth Ann, FSPA; Fountain City; Mrs. Fred (Mary) Otto of La Crescent, Minn.; Mrs. Ray (Ruth) Edgeton of Bellwood, Ill.; Mrs. William (Jean) Affeldt of La Crosse; Mrs. Harry (Joan) Packman of Roanoke, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; one brother, George Dayton of Seattle, Wash; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Higgins of La Crosse; Mrs. Mary Costello and Miss Margaret Dayton both of Chicago, Ill.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, the Rev. Henry Hoerberger officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher Funeral Home, 7th and Winnebago Streets, Friday after 4 p.m., and in evening, the Rosary to be at 8 p.m. Friends are asked to used the 7th street entrance. Dayton was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. James Parish; Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post No. 52 and the Knights of Columbus.
