Nicholas Colsch
New Albin, Iowa Nicholas Colsch, 69, died Monday, Sept 20.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church here with Rev Edgar Kolfenbach officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening at Burke Funeral Home in Lansing. Rosary will be at 8 p.m.
Mr. Colsch was born May 7, 1896 at New Albin to Mr. and Mrs. Nicolas Colsch Sr. He married Charlotte Theobald in 1920.
He is survived by eight sons Harold of Waukon, Dale of Waterloo, Floyd, Clem and Robert all of New Albin, Edward and Carl, both of Caledonia, Minn., and Leroy of Rochester, Minn., and one daughter of California, two brothers, George of Waukon and Charles of Pontiac, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Francis Gerkey of Waukon, Mrs. Ole Erickson of Bremerton, Wash., and Mrs Joe Henry of Waukon. One brother, Leo and a sister Margaret, preceded him in death.
Mr. Colsch served in the 88th Infantry Division in France in World War I. He farmed near New Albin from 1920 until he retired in 1950 and moved to New Albin.
